How to choose a PMU machine

• Wireless or corded: wireless pens give total freedom of movement. A corded pen with a power supply gives constant power for long sessions.
• Stroke length: 2.0–2.5 mm is gentle and ideal for PMU and soft shading. Around 3.0 mm and up gives more power for lips, lines and SMP. Adjustable-stroke machines cover both.
• Weight and grip: a light, well-balanced pen reduces hand fatigue during a full day of clients.

Which PMU machine is best for beginners?

How do I keep my PMU machine hygienic?

Cover the machine and cord with a barrier film or sleeve before every client, use cartridges with a membrane, and clean the surface with a suitable surface disinfectant afterwards. Never immerse the machine in liquid or put it in an autoclave.

Do I need a power supply?

Wireless pens have a built-in battery and only need charging. A corded pen needs a separate power supply and a matching cord.

Which cartridges should I start with?

Start with a few versatile sizes: a 0.30 mm 1RL for lines and hairstrokes and a 0.30 or 0.35 mm 3RL for shading. Add finer or larger needles as your techniques develop. See all PMU cartridges.
